Biography

Brenna N. Penrod is originally from Chandler, Arizona and a proud member of the Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma. She writes character-driven dramas, historical dramas, and psychological thrillers. She has a soft spot for stories that provoke deep thought, ask “what if?”, and/or spotlight the voices history suppressed. She holds BAs in European History (Medieval & Renaissance) and Religious Studies from Arizona State University and is currently a second-year MFA Candidate for Screenwriting at UCLA.

In 2024, Brenna’s short script The Incident. was a Quarterfinalist at the Vail Film Festival and a winter Semi-Finalist at the Santa Barbara International Screenplay Awards.

When Brenna’s not deep in research or fine-tuning pages yet again, she's most likely with her partner Katie exploring some new portion of the country, at a baseball or football game (Go Dodgers! Go Bills!) or simply searching L.A. for that “perfect” meal. However, she can usually be found at a park with her dogs Harley and Stanley P. Tucci, in a movie theater, or just sitting on a beach somewhere plotting her next story.
